About the WITH Project Questionnaire

The Women In Triathlon History (WITH) Project Questionnaire (Bond University Human Research Ethics Protocol Number: JH03462)

I am investigating the ways in which women have shaped triathlon, and the factors that have contributed to and hindered the equal participation by women in the sport. I am inviting women involved in triathlon around the world to share their stories with me. Your stories will be shared with the public on this website (unless confidentiality is requested). In addition, digitised copies of relevant documents such as race results, photographs, and newsletters (with permission) will be shared on this site. The result will be a rich resource about the experiences of women involved in triathlon. The information from your stories and digitised documents will be used to inform  a woman-centred history of triathlon authored by me, Jane Hunt, as well as articles, social media content, and reports by other researchers and people interested in the progress of women in sport around the world.

How you can contribute: You can contribute to the study through the Contribution link in the left hand navigation. There are three ways in which you can contribute to the study:

1. Questionnaire - You can respond to the questionnaire on this website. I am interested in your story and want you to tell your story as you want to tell it. You are free to tell as much or as little of your story as you wish, and in whatever form you choose. The questionnaire is just a starting point. It is not essential that you address any or all of the questions. You can write about your experiences in a separate word document, or you can submit an oral or video recording. To contribute questionnaire answers, or separate text, image, audio, or video files, please select "Contribution" in the left hand navigation bar. Alternatively, you can download the questionnaire, which is pinned to the website homepage.

2. Digital documents - Through the Contributions link you can also upload digital copies of photographs, race results, newsletter or magazine articles, or any other item you think helps to encapsulate or document your triathlon experience. File sizes are capped at 128MB. To contribute a larger file, email a share document link to jhunt@bond.edu.au, or indicate in the Contribute page that you have a larger file to share and I will give you temporary access to a secure data holding folder.

3. Recorded Interview - Through the Contributions link you can request to record your story in an interview via video chat with me.

Confidentiality and Anonymity: If you click that you agree to the Terms and Conditions, your contribution will be made public (after moderation) and your identity will be revealed. If you would like to remain anonymous, or for your contribution to be kept confidential, please answer the Contributor Question about restrictions on use of your contribution.

Confidential data will be stored in a secure location at Bond University for a period of five years in accordance with guidelines set out by the Bond University Human Research Ethics Committee.

Participation in this study is completely voluntary and you may withdraw at any time during the research phase of this project (2020-2021) without risk of negative consequences. If you choose to withdraw your participation in this study, the information you have provided will be immediately destroyed.

Thank you Your participation is welcomed and appreciated. It is through your contribution that the WITH Project will be able to present new insights into the factors that advance and hinder the participation by women in triathlon and aid progress towards gender equity in sport.
